The Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA) is a statutory agency established in 2006 by the Irish Government under the Grangegorman Development Agency Act 2005 to undertake one of the largest regeneration and urban design projects within the city core for many decades. The GDA’s mission is to transform Grangegorman into a vibrant community that encompasses a world class, integrated and inclusive education, health, and community campus. The GDA is now seeking to apply its accumulated knowledge and experience to other aligned national initiatives. To support this, the GDA is seeking to appoint a Director of Special Projects.

About your new job

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with a relevant background in design, engineering, project management, or construction to join a diverse public body to lead the augmentation of its existing project portfolio. The individual will be responsible for the management of GDA’s role in the Build Digital project, a leading innovation action within the overall Project Ireland 2040 strategy, that aims to ensure world class digital practices, which already exist in certain elements in the construction sector, are adopted throughout the industry and supply chain to increase competitiveness, sustainability and innovation for all actors in the construction sector.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct the delivery of certain key projects, the first of which is the strategic and operational aspects of the Build Digital project and provide regular comprehensive reports to the CEO and the Board on the delivery of all such projects.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the cross-cutting project management strand of the Build Digital project, working in close cooperation with TU Dublin, the project coordinating partner. The Director of Special Projects will be the Project Operations Lead for Build Digital and will establish and manage a Project Operations Team comprising an Administration Manager and a Communications Manager.
  • Manage key stakeholders and partners such as TU Dublin, the Department of Public Expenditure National Development Plan Delivery & Reform (DPENDR) in relation to delivery of outputs and outcomes and the facilitation of audits.
  • Manage all operations, finance and communications relating to the project and will join the Executive Board, which has oversight of project management.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised construction / design related third level or professional qualification, e.g. engineering,                   surveying, project management, architecture (level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to think objectively methodically and systematically, plan, communicate and act at a                   programme / multi-project level and to help drive change in an organisation.
  • Relevant experience of the development, delivery, and management of projects.
  • Relevant experience of project programming.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
