Pride in Purpose/CSR

Sigmar Social Enterprise Mandate

When we completed a Management Buy Out in 2009, we aspired to do more for unemployment and embraced social entrepreneurship as a key component of our strategy to lead the industry response to job activation and to drive the national talent agenda.

Apart from creating immense internal pride, our initiatives have had a real impact and have been recognised in the international press, by industry peers, political and business leaders nationally and internationally. Sigmar Recruitment were proud winners of Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the National Recruitment Federation Awards two years in a row, as well as Best CSR Initiative at the Recruitment International Awards

Difference Days

Having raised €40,000 via the Paris2Nice cycle, we went down to Goresbridge in Kilkenny to put that money into action in October 2022. Saplings School in Goresbridge looks after a small number of children who have autism and other special needs and their site was in dire need of transformation. With the help of Difference Days & OutdoorSpaces, the team of 40 or so volunteers from Sigmar Recruitment spent the day transforming their outdoor spaces.

Open Doors

Sigmar is a member of The Open Doors Initiative to help provide opportunities to some of the marginalised members of our society: refugee, asylum seekers and non-native English speakers; young people under 25 with educational barriers; and people with a disability.

The Pledge
We, as corporate citizens, undertake to provide opportunities into the workplace including: training, placements, apprenticeships, community supports and employment opportunities for those people most in need in Irish society.

We will work to meet their needs in a respectful and co-operative way and aim to see them in purposeful engagement where possible.

We will engage in education and advocacy at a national and EU level on the adoption of innovative practices and policies that will remove barriers to employment.

We will be a responsible employer by adhering to the following principles:

  • Defined quality standards with measurable outcomes;

  • A national approach;

  • A clear plan to foster diversity, inclusion and social mobility;

  • A fair wage for all employees;

  • Paths to drive upward mobility within our organisations.

  • We will actively participate in sharing and learning across the network, including forums.

The Irish American Partnership

Sigmar fundraise and support the Irish American Partnership to help raise much needed funds for schools throughout Ireland. Any money raised by our staff is doubled by Sigmar and then matched by the Irish American Partnership.

In the past three decades, Irish American supporters of the Partnership throughout the United States and Ireland, have provided over $33 million dollars in assistance to Ireland both in the North and South. More than 500 primary schools, higher educational institutions and hundreds of community organizations, North and South, have received assistance.

Pride In Purpose

Staff at Sigmar are extremely proud that our core ethos is about putting people first. We put commercial interests behind those of our colleagues, candidates, community and clients. CSR is at the core of everything we do and is fundamental to the way we behave on a daily basis. We believe our CSR activities, which we have named ‘Pride in Purpose’, sets us apart from our competitors.

Sigmar’s consultants are involved with career coaching to the long term unemployed, minority groups, ex-offenders, schools and universities actively supporting initiatives such as:

  • Association for Higher Education Access & Disability (AHEAD): Staff members held CV clinics and mock interviews at AHEAD’s Building the Future events  to assist job seekers with disabilities.

  • Sigmar staff supported jobseekers from different countries at the annual Migrant Fair

  • Sigmar staff regularly assist with mock interviews with Business in The Community.
