Structural Engineer
Job Summary
Our client is a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering structural, civil and transportation engineering solutions across a wide range of projects in Ireland. They work on complex and high-profile developments, providing practical, innovative and technically robust solutions from initial concept through to construction.
They are now seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team in Dublin. This role would suit an engineer who is looking to take ownership of projects, develop their technical expertise and work closely with clients, contractors and wider design teams.
The successful candidate will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from preliminary and detailed structural design through to site inspections and construction support. The role offers strong opportunities for career development within a collaborative and technically focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare preliminary structural scheme design options for discussion and approval.
- Produce structural design calculations and drawings in accordance with Eurocodes and Irish Building Regulations.
- Take responsibility for projects from detailed design through to construction and site supervision.
- Review drawings and designs produced by other members of the design team and external consultants.
- Carry out site inspections, including reinforcement inspections prior to concrete pours and general workmanship inspections.
- Develop safe, economical and structurally viable design solutions to technical and construction challenges.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and other members of the design team throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the wider team in the delivery of projects and contribute to the continued development of the team.
- Assist with project management and coordination as required.
- Carry out other duties as required to support successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Minimum Level 8 qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 2–5 years' relevant structural engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of current structural design codes and Eurocodes.
- Experience producing structural calculations and drawings.
- Advanced knowledge and experience using AutoCAD.
- Hands-on experience with a range of construction methods and structural materials.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Good understanding of Irish Building Regulations and relevant statutory procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Flexible approach and ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered status.
- Experience carrying projects from detailed design through to construction.
- Previous experience carrying out structural inspections and construction-stage support.
- Experience working across a variety of building types and construction methods.
