About Your New Job

As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will:

  • Translate design inputs into innovative concepts, detailed designs, specifications, and test plans.
  • Select optimal materials, assembly methods, and processes to maximize product performance and manufacturability.
  • Develop and assess prototypes, execute rigorous test protocols, and document findings to solve technical challenges.
  • Drive project objectives, meeting timeline, performance, and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors to advance development and manufacturing initiatives.
  • Engage directly with clinicians to understand clinical practices, contribute to training materials, and ensure user needs are embedded in designs.
  • Support risk management and regulatory compliance activities throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assist with CAPA processes and complaint investigations to enhance product safety and reliability.
  • Lead aspects of the product development cycle, from concept generation to commercialization.
  • Participate in clinical studies, providing actionable feedback to optimize product design.
  • Support generation of product files and documentation for quality compliance, including risk management and design verification/validation.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to intellectual property development.
  • Ensure alignment with Quality Management Systems requirements.

What Skills You Need

  • Honours degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in medical device design and development (including CAD, prototyping, and testing).
  • Broad and deep knowledge of engineering principles with strong technical and design abilities.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to work proactively.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring and developing other team members is highly valued.
