About Your New Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take a lead role in the delivery of mechanical building services design from concept through to construction and handover. You will be responsible for managing mechanical design packages, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and providing technical leadership across projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the design of mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, heat pumps and public health services.
Producing and reviewing technical calculations, reports, specifications and detailed design documentation.
Managing mechanical design deliverables across all project stages to ensure quality, compliance and programme alignment.
Coordinating closely with electrical, architectural and structural teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
Reviewing contractor submittals, RFIs and design changes during construction stages.
Attending site inspections, commissioning reviews and client and design team meetings.
Providing mentorship, technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers.
Supporting sustainability, low-carbon design and energy-efficient solutions.
Representing the mechanical discipline in client and project team engagements.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
Typically 6–10+ years’ experience in mechanical building services design consultancy.
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, public health systems and low-carbon technologies.
Experience delivering commercial, residential, healthcare or technically complex projects.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp, Cymap or similar.
Solid understanding of Irish Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, IS standards and industry best practice.
Proven ability to manage design packages, deadlines and multidisciplinary coordination.
Strong communication skills with experience engaging directly with clients and stakeholders.
Chartered Engineer status or working toward chartership is highly desirable.
