About Your New Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take a leading role in the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services on medium-to-large-scale commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive best-practice engineering standards throughout all project stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical design of building services systems, including LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, life safety, comms/ICT, access control, and EV infrastructure.

  • Develop concept, schematic, and detailed designs, ensuring compliance with Irish building regulations, standards, and client specifications.

  • Oversee project delivery through design stages, tender, construction, and handover.

  • Undertake calculations, load assessments, lighting design, and technical reports.

  • Coordinate with mechanical, environmental, and sustainability teams to ensure fully integrated MEP solutions.

  • Attend design team meetings, client briefings, site inspections, and technical workshops.

  • Review contractor submissions, resolve technical queries, and ensure installation quality.

  • Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical leadership to junior and intermediate engineers.

  • Support business development activities and contribute to fee proposals when required.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • 6+ years’ experience in electrical building services engineering.

  • Strong project experience within commercial, residential, mixed-use, or healthcare projects.

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

  • Proficiency in relevant design software (Dialux/Relux, AutoCAD, Revit exposure beneficial).

  • Strong knowledge of Irish standards, TGD, IS 10101, CIBSE guidelines, and UK standards where applicable.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present confidently to clients and design teams.

  • Experience managing multiple projects and leading design packages.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.

  • Chartered or working towards chartership (desirable but not required).
