About Your New Job
As Senior Civils Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in securing and shaping major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working as part of a high-performing Preconstruction team, you will lead the preparation of detailed and competitive cost estimates while supporting the development of winning tender strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the preparation of accurate and detailed cost estimates for major tender submissions.
- Engaging with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive and reliable pricing for work packages.
- Reviewing project documentation, specifications, drawings, and programmes to identify opportunities and risks.
- Supporting the development of bid-winning strategies aligned with current market conditions.
- Managing the commercial and technical evaluation of tender returns.
- Ensuring effective handover of successful tenders to project delivery teams.
What You Will Need
The successful candidate will bring a strong technical and commercial background, along with a proven ability to deliver accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale civil engineering projects.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years' estimating experience within the construction or civil engineering sector.
- Recent experience operating at Senior Estimator level.
- A strong background in heavy civil engineering projects, including infrastructure, roads, bridges, utilities, marine works, or major groundworks.
- Proven experience working with a main contractor on large-scale civils or infrastructure projects.
- Excellent analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and estimating software/databases.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for supporting and developing team members.
