Senior Civil Engineer – Water & Drainage

An established engineering consultancy with over 220 employees across the UK and Ireland is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer in Dublin City Centre. Permanent, €60,000–€70,000 + bonus, with 3 days in the Dublin office and 2 days working from home, plus an early finish on Fridays. You’ll join a growing team working across water, drainage, infrastructure, active travel, public realm and urban regeneration.

The team works across a diverse portfolio of large-scale urban regeneration, public realm and active travel schemes, alongside wider infrastructure, roads, water and drainage projects. Their work includes major city-centre improvements focused on creating greener, safer and more accessible urban environments, with a strong emphasis on pedestrians and cyclists.


The Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will take a key role in the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, with a particular emphasis on water, drainage and surface water infrastructure.
You will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects from concept through to construction.
  • Develop designs for surface water, drainage and associated civil infrastructure.
  • Work across active travel, roads, public realm and urban regeneration schemes.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings and tender documentation.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support bids and tenders and contribute to securing new work.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Support projects through construction and site stages where required.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Irish civil engineering team.

Requirements
Essential

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' relevant civil engineering experience within the Irish/UK market.
  • Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD or similar design softwares.
  • Strong experience in water, drainage and surface water design.
  • Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects within a consultancy environment.
  • Good knowledge of relevant Irish standards and design guidance (including DMURS, Uisce Éireann Codes, DMRB, SuDS etc.).
  • Strong technical design, coordination and communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership.
  • Experience in active travel, roads, public realm or urban regeneration.
  • Experience with sustainable drainage solutions.
  • Experience working with local authorities or public-sector clients.

Terms & Benefits

  • Salary: €60,000–€70,000 depending on experience plus bonus (TBD)
  • Permanent, full-time.
  • 3 days in the Dublin office and 2 days working from home.
  • 36.5 hours Monday to Friday, with a shorter Friday and core hours of 10:30am–4:30pm.
