About Your New Job
As the Retail Supervisor, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Safety Direct shop in Galway.
- Lead and support a team of 2–3 colleagues, providing strong people management and setting high standards for customer service.
- Identify customer needs, recommend suitable products and maximise sales opportunities.
- Manage customer enquiries, process sales through the shop till and use systems such as SAP.
- Work closely with customer support and the warehouse team to locate products and ensure customers receive an efficient service.
- Introduce new ideas and initiatives to drive sales and improve the retail experience.
- Maintain high standards of organisation, presentation and attention to detail in the store.
- Act as a confident ambassador for the company and its product range.
This is a full-time, permanent, site-based position, subject to a standard six-month probation period.
Location: Galway
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm
- Occasional Saturdays, 8:30am–2:00pm
- Some additional flexibility may be required from time to time
- Closed on bank holidays and for several days over the Christmas period
What Skills You Need
- Previous experience in retail supervision or a similar leadership role would be an advantage.
- Strong customer service, communication, organisation and administration skills.
- The confidence to lead a small team and manage people effectively.
- A proactive, flexible and hands-on approach to work.
- The ability to work under pressure in a busy, customer-facing environment.
- Good computer and systems skills, with the ability to learn platforms such as SAP and retail till systems.
- A passion for sales, customer support and identifying opportunities to grow revenue.
- Experience in a hardware store, farm store, co-op, agricultural merchants, construction or another trade environment would be highly beneficial.
- A technical or marketing background would also be an advantage.
