About Your New Role

As Quantity Surveying Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the commercial function across multiple large-scale construction projects, ensuring effective cost control, contract management, and financial performance from pre-construction through to final account.

Working closely with senior leadership, project managers, and site teams, you will lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors while driving commercial strategy and maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial delivery of major construction projects
  • Overseeing budgets, forecasting, and cost reporting
  • Leading procurement and subcontractor management processes
  • Managing valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts
  • Ensuring contractual compliance and mitigating commercial risk
  • Supporting project delivery teams to achieve programme and profitability targets
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Mentoring and developing junior commercial staff

What You Will Need

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within a main contractor environment
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management processes
  • Experience delivering large-scale building projects
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commercial awareness with a proactive and solution-focused approach
  • Membership of a recognised professional body is advantageous
