Your New Role
As Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects from initial concept through to construction and handover.
Working alongside senior engineers, technicians and other engineering disciplines, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing mechanical building services, including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, water services and drainage systems.
- Completing heating and cooling load calculations, equipment selections and system sizing.
- Producing mechanical specifications, technical reports, schedules and design documentation.
- Reviewing and coordinating mechanical drawings and BIM models.
- Working closely with electrical, structural and civil engineering teams to produce coordinated designs.
- Attending client, design-team and project coordination meetings.
- Liaising with architects, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Reviewing technical submittals and responding to RFIs and design queries.
- Carrying out site inspections to monitor installation quality and compliance with the design.
- Supporting projects throughout the construction, commissioning and handover stages.
- Ensuring designs comply with Irish Building Regulations, relevant standards and client requirements.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least three years’ experience in mechanical building services design.
- Experience designing HVAC, heating, ventilation, water services and drainage systems.
- Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and relevant mechanical engineering standards.
- Experience using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp or similar design packages.
- The ability to produce calculations, specifications, schedules and technical reports.
- Previous experience working within an engineering consultancy would be highly advantageous.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- The ability to manage technical responsibilities across multiple projects.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
