Our client is a market leader in the UK & Ireland’s Building Services sector, specializing in the design, manufacture, and delivery of innovative, sustainable, off-site prefabricated mechanical and energy solutions across the UK & Europe.
They deliver turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for data centres and large-scale district heating projects and are continuing to grow their Contracts team. As part of this expansion, they are appointing a Mechanical Engineer to their team based in Amsterdam.
About Your New Job
As Mechanical Engineer (Data Centres), you will take responsibility for the preparation and coordination of mechanical engineering designs for commercial heating plantrooms and prefabricated mechanical packages used within mission-critical data centre projects. This role will be based in the Amsterdam region, supporting a strong pipeline of data centre projects in the area.
Working as part of an established design team using the latest AutoCAD and MEP 3D design packages, you will coordinate mechanical and electrical building services within off-site fabrication packages, ensuring that all systems are designed in accordance with client specifications, regulatory standards, and project requirements.
You will support the delivery of fully coordinated, build-ready designs that can be handed over to the Contracts team for fabrication and installation. This role requires a strong technical background in building services engineering combined with effective coordination and communication with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
What Skills You Need
As the Mechanical Engineer you will:
- Prepare and coordinate mechanical engineering designs for commercial heating plantrooms and prefabricated MEP systems used in data centre projects.
- Manage design development from contract award through design approval and readiness for fabrication and construction.
- Coordinate M&E services within off-site fabrication packages to ensure designs are buildable and compliant with current regulations.
- Review and guide engineering drawings, BIM models, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
- Lead and participate in client-facing and internal design meetings, tracking progress and resolving technical design issues.
- Support BIM coordination and collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure integrated building services solutions.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, contracts managers, and commissioning teams to ensure designs meet project and client requirements.
- Define project scope, design deliverables, and technical responsibilities during the early stages of the project.
- Monitor design progress and address technical challenges to ensure projects remain on schedule.
What You Need to Have
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience in mechanical building services design within commercial, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, MEP services, and plantroom installations.
- Experience using AutoCAD and MEP 3D design software within a multidisciplinary design environment.
- Knowledge of BIM coordination and design integration with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proven experience coordinating with design teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
