Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to join our construction team based in Leixlip. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Health, Safety, Environmental and Welfare compliance across multiple construction projects, ensuring full compliance with Irish legislation and company standards.
This role requires a highly motivated professional with strong construction industry experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to promote a positive safety culture across all site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Health & Safety policies and procedures across all construction sites.
- Ensure compliance with current Irish Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Prepare and review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety training to site personnel and subcontractors.
- Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers, subcontractors, and external authorities regarding H&S matters.
- Monitor contractor compliance and ensure safe systems of work are adhered to.
- Maintain accurate H&S documentation and records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to safety performance and site culture.
- Assist in emergency planning and response procedures.
- Prepare reports and KPI data for senior management.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within the Construction Industry.
- Level 8 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Irish construction safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and reporting abilities.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and across multiple project sites.
Desirable Qualifications / Certifications
- IOSH Membership
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
- Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, or pharmaceutical projects
- Manual Handling Instructor / Train the Trainer qualifications
- First Aid certification
