Engineering Manager

This is a permanent job based with a small medical device company in Galway. This job is fully on-site. Strong people management experience is essential for this role.

The hiring manager is seeking someone with an R&D background in medical device who has grown into a management role.

About Your New Job as a Process Development Manager:

  • Lead, support, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Champion improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, enhancing output, and reducing operational waste.
  • Utilise R&D knowledge/experience to provide ongoing engineering support for established products and manufacturing processes.
  • Address technical challenges swiftly to maintain productivity and quality standards.
  • Work closely with operations, quality, and supply teams to achieve production targets and resolve complex technical matters.
  • Lead engineering-driven projects including process enhancements, equipment implementation, and capacity scaling initiatives.
  • Drive professional growth through structured coaching, development planning, and performance oversight.

What Skills You Need:

  • NFQ Level 8 degree-qualified in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a regulated production setting, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in R&D, process support, operational improvement, and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Skilled in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement tools.
  • Effective communicator with strong leadership and decision-making capability.
