About the Company

Our client is a leading Irish manufacturing business with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and operational excellence. Operating from a highly automated production facility, the company supplies products across domestic and international markets.

Due to continued growth and investment, they are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their leadership team and drive engineering performance across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you will play a key leadership role within the site engineering function, overseeing maintenance, reliability, continuous improvement, and engineering team performance.

Reporting into senior site leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, driving operational efficiency, managing engineering budgets, and supporting the delivery of business objectives through effective engineering strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers and external contractors
  • Drive equipment reliability, plant performance, and preventative maintenance activities
  • Manage engineering budgets, cost control, and engineering resources
  • Oversee CMMS utilisation, maintenance planning, and engineering documentation
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and regulatory requirements
  • Support continuous improvement, automation, and efficiency projects
  • Manage contractor relationships and service agreements
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, and Production teams to deliver site objectives

What You Bring

  • Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams
  • A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Experience managing engineering budgets and maintenance programmes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on reliability and operational excellence

What You Need

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or a related engineering discipline
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical device, or other highly regulated production environment
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and CMMS platforms
  • Experience with automated production equipment and fault finding
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems, ideally Siemens S7
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements within manufacturing
  • Experience delivering engineering projects and operational improvements

Desirable

  • Third-level qualification in Engineering or Engineering Management
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency or sustainability initiatives
