Job Summary
Our client is a long-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with extensive experience delivering civil, structural and transportation projects across Ireland and internationally. With a strong reputation across major infrastructure and building projects, they provide design and project management services across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on delivering practical, sustainable and buildable engineering solutions.
The company has a strong track record in urban infrastructure, active travel and public realm projects, alongside significant experience in data centre and major infrastructure design. They are now seeking a Civil Engineer to join their team. This role would suit an engineer with a strong interest in urban infrastructure and active travel who enjoys technical problem-solving, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to projects that shape the public realm.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver civil engineering design across a range of projects, with a particular focus on active travel and urban infrastructure schemes.
- Work across all project stages, including feasibility, preliminary design, detailed design and construction.
- Design roads, junctions and streetscapes incorporating walking, cycling and public realm improvements.
- Prepare and review drawings, calculations and technical deliverables in accordance with relevant Irish standards and guidance, including DMURS, NTA, TII and TSM.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including landscape architects and structural engineers, to deliver integrated urban solutions.
- Provide guidance and support to technicians.
- Participate in client, stakeholder and project team meetings.
- Undertake site visits for surveys, inspections and construction support as required.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications and contract documentation.
- Support project planning and programming to ensure deadlines are met.
- Liaise with local authorities, utility providers and other stakeholders throughout the design and approval process.
- Contribute to design reviews, with a focus on safety, accessibility, sustainability and buildability.
- Support quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience working on civil engineering projects.
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Level 8 or equivalent).
- Experience delivering civil engineering projects through different design stages.
- Experience within urban infrastructure and/or active travel projects is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Irish civil engineering design standards and guidance.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interest in urban infrastructure, active travel and public realm projects.
Desirable
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Progress towards Chartered Engineer status or an interest in pursuing professional accreditation.
- Experience working with local authorities, NTA, TII or other public-sector stakeholders.
- Experience across roads, junctions, active travel or public realm schemes.
