About Your New Job
As a Civil Design Engineer, you will:
- Deliver civil engineering designs for a variety of projects, focusing on active travel and urban infrastructure schemes.
- Work on all stages of project delivery, from feasibility and preliminary design through to detailed design and construction.
- Design roads, junctions, and streetscapes that enhance walking, cycling, and the public realm.
- Prepare and review drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables according to relevant Irish standards and guidance (e.g. DMURS, NTA, TII, TSM).
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including landscape architects and structural engineers, to develop integrated urban solutions.
- Guide and mentor technicians to deliver quality outputs.
- Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Undertake site visits for surveys, inspections, and provide construction support as needed.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and contract documentation.
- Support project planning and programming to meet deadlines.
- Engage with local authorities, utility providers, and other stakeholders as part of the design and approval process.
- Contribute to design reviews, focusing on safety, accessibility, sustainability, and buildability.
- Support quality assurance processes and help ensure compliance with internal procedures.
- Share your knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
What Skills You Need
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience delivering civil engineering projects, ideally with a background in urban or active travel schemes.
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Level 8 or equivalent).
- Proven ability to deliver civil projects across all design stages.
- Good working knowledge of Irish design standards and guidance.
- Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage workload and thrive in a team environment.
- Progress towards or interest in professional accreditation (e.g. Chartered Engineer) is desirable.
