About Your New Job

As a Design Automation Engineer II, you will support and enhance automated manufacturing equipment and production lines. Working closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams, you will troubleshoot issues, improve equipment reliability, and support the integration of new and modified automation systems.

You will:

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across automated manufacturing lines.
• Investigate equipment downtime and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Support the installation, commissioning, testing, and startup of new or modified automation equipment.
• Provide hands-on support during hypercare and production ramp-up phases.
• Debug issues at software, controls, and system level.
• Diagnose problems across electrical, mechanical, hardware, and software interfaces.
• Support equipment improvement, standardisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to validation, verification, and change control activities within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and assist with updates to procedures and specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and robust automation solutions.

What Skills You Need

• A degree in Engineering, Science, Automation, Controls, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in automation and/or controls engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting experience supporting automated equipment and production lines.
• Experience with Beckhoff Automation systems.
• Proficiency in PLC-based control systems, with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell experience highly desirable.
• Ability to diagnose issues across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and machine documentation.
• Experience with commissioning, testing, and ongoing equipment support.
• Experience in a regulated industry, ideally medical device or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methods.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to different stakeholders.
• A proactive, self-managed approach with strong attention to detail and quality.

Desirable experience includes:

• Epson robots.
• Vision systems such as Cognex or Keyence.
• Motion control and HMI/SCADA systems, including Ignition.
• Validation, verification, and change control processes.
