About Your New Job
As a Welder, you will play a key role in the manufacturing process, producing high-quality fabricated components while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. Working as part of an experienced production team, you will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, assembling components, and carrying out precision welding in a fast-paced factory environment.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Performing MIG welding on mild steel and other materials as required.
- Fabricating, assembling, and welding components to precise measurements and quality standards.
- Preparing materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces.
- Inspecting completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Operating welding equipment and other fabrication machinery safely and efficiently.
- Carrying out basic maintenance and daily checks on welding equipment.
- Using a variety of hand and power tools during the fabrication process.
- Working closely with the production team to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
- Identifying and reporting defects or quality issues promptly.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area at all times.
- Following all health and safety procedures, company policies, and safe working practices.
- Wearing and maintaining the appropriate PPE at all times.
- Assisting with general production and fabrication duties as required.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties required to support the production team.
What Skills You Need
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience working as a MIG Welder within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Experience working with mild steel fabrication.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a busy production team.
- Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet production deadlines.
- A strong understanding of health and safety practices within a manufacturing environment.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a positive work ethic.
- Good communication skills.
- Manual Handling certification is desirable.
- Relevant welding qualifications or certifications would be an advantage but are not essential for experienced candidates.
