Technical Operations Manager (Drug Product)

The Opportunity

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager to join their site in Sligo. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical leader to oversee process engineering and process chemistry activities supporting commercial Drug Product manufacturing and New Product Introductions (NPI).

Leading a team of technical professionals, you will play a key role in ensuring manufacturing excellence, driving continuous improvement initiatives, supporting product lifecycle management, and delivering technical expertise across multiple commercial products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Process Engineers and Process Chemists.

  • Provide technical leadership across commercial Drug Product manufacturing operations and New Product Introductions (NPI).

  • Oversee process validation, commissioning, technical transfers and process qualification activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement projects to improve manufacturing efficiency, product yield, cycle times and cost performance.

  • Provide technical support for complex manufacturing processes within a GMP pharmaceutical environment.

  • Manage technical activities associated with introducing new products into commercial manufacturing.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and operational excellence.

  • Support feasibility studies, process development activities and future manufacturing strategies.

  • Manage medium-scale capital projects from planning through execution.

  • Ensure compliance with GMP, quality standards, health & safety and environmental requirements.

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support business objectives and site strategy.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or another relevant scientific discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Process Engineering or Process Chemistry within a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience leading or managing technical teams.

  • Proven experience supporting New Product Introductions (NPI), process validation and technical transfers.

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and GMP regulations.

  • Experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving, project management and decision-making skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities with the confidence to influence across multiple functions.
