About Your New Job
As a Solar Technical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of solar PV projects across Ireland. You will work closely with engineering teams, project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development of preliminary and detailed solar PV designs, layouts, and technical drawings.
- Reviewing engineering documentation including specifications, datasheets, method statements, and construction drawings.
- Providing technical support throughout project delivery, including procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover stages.
- Liaising with stakeholders including DNOs and ESB Networks regarding grid connection requirements and commissioning activities.
- Supporting site inspections and providing engineering input during construction phases.
- Assisting with technical assessments including energy yield analysis, equipment selection, cable sizing, and system optimisation.
- Preparing technical documentation including commissioning reports and project handover information.
What Skills You Need
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years’ engineering experience within solar PV, renewable energy, or an EPC project environment.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems including modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and SCADA systems.
- Experience working with technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Full EU/Irish driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
Desirable experience:
- MV/HV grid connections and protection studies.
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or hybrid energy projects.
- Experience using AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar engineering software.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
