SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT – GALWAY (ONSITE)

This is a confidential search for a Financial Accountant on behalf of a well-established, high-growth Irish business with a strong market position and multi-entity operations. The role reports directly to the General Manager and offers significant influence over financial strategy, compliance, and operational transformation. You'll work within a credible, forward-looking organisation that values accuracy, commercial insight, and long-term stability. This is a high-impact position for a qualified accountant ready to step into a trusted, business-critical function.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and payroll journals to ensure accurate financial reporting

  • Reconcile bank accounts, debtors, and creditors to support robust month-end and year-end close processes

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to produce monthly management accounts and post miscellaneous journals

  • Develop rolling financial and cashflow forecasts to support strategic decision-making

  • Manage bi-monthly VAT3 returns, year-end VAT RTD, and Intrastat reporting as required

  • Maintain and update the fixed assets schedule to reflect accurate asset valuation and depreciation

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely invoice processing and debt collection

  • Advise on client payment terms in coordination with senior leadership to support cashflow management

  • Lead year-end audit preparations and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy

  • Manage monthly and yearly stock counts to maintain inventory integrity and financial alignment

  • Monitor e-tender opportunities and support tender applications to drive business growth

  • Oversee the purchase order system, including issuance, processing, and approval workflows

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with substantial experience in a similar role

  • Proven expertise in preparing management accounts, financial statements, and regulatory filings

  • Strong knowledge of VAT compliance, including VAT3, RTD, and Intrastat reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cashflow forecasting and financial planning for multi-entity operations

  • Proficient in Excel and familiar with SAGE accounting software or similar ERP systems

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial processes and reporting

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in liaising with senior stakeholders

  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Open to direction and feedback, with a commitment to continuous improvement

  • Understanding of audit processes and ability to support year-end financial audits

  • Knowledge of CSO survey compliance and experience with job costing and tender processes is advantageous
