About Your New Job as a Senior Equipment Design Engineer:

  • Review user-level requirements and ensure all outputs align with agreed specifications
  • Develop design concepts and detailed component/assembly drawings using 3D CAD software.
  • Create custom jigs, fixtures and specialised equipment for a variety of sectors.
  • Participate in design discussions and meetings with clients to clarify expectations and technical needs.
  • Prepare all supporting engineering documentation—including drawings, specifications, bills of materials and technical build files—while ensuring compliance with relevant machine-safety and regulatory standards.
  • Apply strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and safety-related design principles.
  • Hold responsibility for approving and signing off technical drawings.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to communicate project requirements and updates.
  • Work closely with project management to maintain progress, resolve issues and support delivery within agreed timelines.
  • Provide support during manufacturing, offering clarification on function, performance and testing requirements.
  • Generate, evaluate and refine 3D models, and guide others involved in modelling tasks through collaborative tools such as Teams and standard document suites.
  • Conduct product inspections and validation checks for customer components.

What Skills You Need

  • Third level relevant qualification in mechanical engineering or other relevant related discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in machine design or equipment design within the automation sector. Candidates with no experience of the full design lifecycle of machines or equipment will not be considered.
  • Experienced in Solidworks CAD and PDM package is essential.
  • Exposure to preparing customer quotations/proposals with a strong understanding of pricing strategies.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, high degree of attention to detail, self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
