About Your New Job

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the financial and contractual management of construction projects, ensuring robust cost planning and control from project inception through to completion.

Main Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for preparing detailed estimates, cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender documentation, providing accurate and transparent financial information at every stage of the construction process.
  • You will lead the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, evaluating quotations, negotiating terms, drafting contracts, and ensuring all procurement is in line with both project budgets and relevant standards.
  • You will monitor and forecast project expenditures, conduct regular valuations, assess and agree on variations, and proactively resolve any cost-related issues as they arise to keep projects financially on track.
  • You will carry out risk and value management and prepare lifecycle costing to ensure the best value is achieved for both the client and the contractor.
  • You will be involved in cash flow forecasting, interim and final account preparations, and ensure the timely certification of payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • You will maintain meticulous project documentation and contractual records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, company procedures, and industry best practices.
  • You will work closely with project managers, site teams, clients, design engineers, and architects to identify project requirements, constraints, and opportunities for value engineering.
  • You will contribute to the resolution of any contractual or commercial disputes, providing clear advice and support based on contractual terms and best practice.
  • You will keep abreast of market trends, fluctuations in material and labour costs, and new technologies or methodologies that may impact cost planning and control.
  • You will play an active role in continuous improvement initiatives within the business, supporting the implementation of new systems, processes, and digital solutions and mentoring junior staff.

 

What Skills You Need

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction industry in Ireland.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, tendering, contracts, and construction law.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail, organisational ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and strong reporting skills.
  • Full driving licence required.
