Project Coordinator / Senior Project Officer with The Irish Environmental Network (IEN) – PEACEPLUS Project
About The Organisation:
The Irish Environmental Network (IEN), founded in 2001, is a leading umbrella organization representing environmental NGO's across the Republic of Ireland. Over the past number of years, the IEN and its sister network Northern Ireland Environment Link (NIEL) have been working together to address cross-border environmental challenges, focusing on research, dialogue, and relationship building within the environmental NGO sector.
About The Project and Job:
The IEN and NIEL have received support from the PEACEPLUS programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), to deliver a project building directly on this work, by providing targeted support environmental NGOs on both sides of the border aimed at enhancing structured, effective all-island cooperation in the sector.The CORE Project (Cross-border Opportunities for a Resilient Environment) will deliver targeted training, mentoring, and capacity building to NGOs seeking to enhance their cross-border engagement. Through its implementation, the CORE Project will contribute to a more resilient, cooperative, and sustainable future for environmental management across the island of Ireland.
About Your Role And Job:
We are seeking an organised and committed Project Coordinator / Senior Project Officer to work closely alongside the Project Manager, on a 2.5 year EU-funded and PLEASEPLUS funded initiative, focused on training, effective delivery, governance, mentoring and evaluation for charities and NGOs across the island. This project aims to enhance cross-border cooperation, improve organisational capability, and support on shared environmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities of your job:
The Project Coordinator will play a key role in the coordination and delivery of training partnership, best practice output, coordinate workshops, liaise with trainers and participants, manage product documentation, reporting process and contribute to stakeholder and network engagement.
The role will broken down into 5 components which include but are not limited to:
- Project Delivery and Coordination
- Training and Capacity Building Support
- Cross Border Partnership and Network Support
- Reporting and documentation
- Stakeholder Engagement

Essential Requirements you need for this job:
- Substantial and relevant experience coordinating and delivering complex project activities or workstreams, including responsibility for planning, logistics, documentation, stakeholder engagement and meeting deadlines.
- Proven experience supporting or coordinating complex projects with multiple parties.
- Experience coordination delivery of training programs, workshops, events, seminars or capacity building initiatives.
- Experience providing Administration, financial and/or reporting support on projects or programs.
- Experience managing multiple workstreams, deadlines and deliverables.
- Experience engaging professional with stakeholder, partners or facilitators.
- Demonstrated experience preparing reports, summaries, briefing or documentation.
- Excellent written and internal communication skills.
Desirable Requirements you need for this job:
- Knowledge of environmental issues, environmental governance or sustainability policy.
- Experience in the NGO / community sector, either environmental or other relevant sectors such as the community sector.
- Knowledge or experience of cross-border/ transnational cooperation in Ireland.
- Experience working on multi-[partner initiatives or collaborative programs.
- Familiarity with governance, leadership development or Organisation capacity building programs.
Qualifications And Skills:
The successful candidate can provide evidence of the following:
- Relevant third-level qualification (degree or diploma) in environmental studies, public administration, community development, social sciences, policy, project management, or related field or equivalent professional experience.

Location and working arrangement:
- The IEN office is in Dublin 7 but the successful candidate will be expected to work mainly remotely and will be expected to travel frequently in Ireland and Northern Ireland for locations in the border area for project delivery and team meetings.
- Travel outside of the office/remote working location is reimbursed according to the project expenses policy.
- This post is open to anyone based or willing to be based in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.
Contract Period and Hours:
- The duration of the contract will be 2.5 years.
- This is a Full Time role with a weekly number of hours set at 35 hours per week.
