We’re looking for a hands-on and driven On-Site Operations Manager to play a key leadership role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of materials across our waste and recycling facility. This position offers the opportunity to influence operational performance and long-term success while working closely with senior stakeholders across the business. 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage the on-site operations team, including training and performance oversight
  • Oversee sorting line operations and coordinate with on-site machine drivers
  • Manage weighbridge activities, including night shift operatives
  • Finalise staff rosters and liaise with HR/recruitment teams

Plant & Operational Performance

  • Work cross-functionally to improve plant efficiency
  • Coordinate with plant suppliers on service agreements, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Oversee the intake, processing, and internal movement of materials

Compliance & Licensing

  • Ensure adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and waste regulations
  • Act as the main point of contact for inspectors and regulatory bodies
  • Ensure timely outbound material movements to designated outlets
  • Maintain compliance with environmental licensing and waste storage standards
  • Keep accurate records on classification, dust/odour controls, and material quality
  • Collaborate with EHS on audits and local stakeholder communications

Yard & Site Operations

  • Maintain high standards across staff facilities and site presentation
  • Partner with transport and sales teams on stock control for bins, skips, and roll-on units
  • Develop and implement traffic management plans with transport and EHS teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years’ leadership experience
  • Background in waste, depot, or industrial operations
  • Strong people management and operational leadership skills
  • Solid understanding of plant and material handling workflows
  • Familiarity with regulatory and health & safety requirements
  • Heavy machinery experience beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities
