About Your New Job

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will translate client requirements into production-ready mechanical designs for the fabrication of pharmaceutical equipment.

You will:

• Design and draft mechanical equipment using 3D and 2D CAD, primarily in Solid Edge, SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
• Review client User Requirement Specifications and develop concepts, detailed designs, general arrangements, manufacturing drawings, parts lists and assembly documentation.
• Work as part of a project core team to deliver projects within agreed schedules and budgeted hours.
• Act as the mechanical design Subject Matter Expert throughout the project lifecycle, supporting fabrication and assembly teams with technical and manufacturability queries.
• Lead Stage-Gate design reviews and manage the approval process for general arrangement drawings and P&IDs with clients.
• Lead the development of ergonomic mock-up reviews.
• Develop Bills of Materials, support supplier identification and liaise with procurement, ERP and PLM teams.
• Support project scheduling, change management and the preparation of Variation Change Requests for client approval.
• Support the preparation and execution of Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing protocols.

What Skills You Need

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least three years’ experience in the mechanical design of machines or specialist equipment.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD, ideally Solid Edge. Experience with SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor will also be considered.
• Experience with sheet metal design and the generation of flat patterns.
• Proven experience in concept design, detailed design and the production of manufacturing documentation.
• A strong understanding of design for manufacture, fabrication and machining.
• Experience working within the life sciences industry and knowledge of Good Documentation Practices.
• Knowledge of ATEX, CE, UL and general machine safety standards.
• Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
