Truck / HGV Mechanic – On-Site | Monday to Friday

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Truck / HGV Mechanic to join a busy, hands-on team at an operational site focused on vehicle maintenance and compliance

Location: On-site (waste management / recycling environment)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (overtime available or call-outs may be required)

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and maintenance on heavy trucks
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently
  • Work across engines, brakes, suspension, steering, gearboxes, and hydraulics
  • Prepare vehicles for compliance checks, inspections, and road safety standards
  • Respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime
  • Complete service records, job cards, and defect reports
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment

Health & Safety:

  • Follow strict health & safety procedures
  • Use PPE and tools correctly
  • Report defects, hazards, or incidents immediately
  • Ensure vehicles are fully safe before returning them to service

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a truck / HGV mechanic
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Good knowledge of HGV mechanical systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload
  • Strong health & safety awareness

Desirable:

  • HGV mechanic qualifications
  • Experience in waste, logistics, or similar industries
  • HGV Class C / C+E license
