Truck / HGV Mechanic – On-Site | Monday to Friday
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Truck / HGV Mechanic to join a busy, hands-on team at an operational site focused on vehicle maintenance and compliance
Location: On-site (waste management / recycling environment)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (overtime available or call-outs may be required)
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and maintenance on heavy trucks
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently
- Work across engines, brakes, suspension, steering, gearboxes, and hydraulics
- Prepare vehicles for compliance checks, inspections, and road safety standards
- Respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime
- Complete service records, job cards, and defect reports
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
Health & Safety:
- Follow strict health & safety procedures
- Use PPE and tools correctly
- Report defects, hazards, or incidents immediately
- Ensure vehicles are fully safe before returning them to service
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a truck / HGV mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Good knowledge of HGV mechanical systems
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Strong health & safety awareness
Desirable:
- HGV mechanic qualifications
- Experience in waste, logistics, or similar industries
- HGV Class C / C+E license
