Position:                   Manufacturing Engineer
Location:                  Ringaskiddy Co. Cork.
The Job - Summary of Function:

  • Identify and drive improvements in the manufacture of high reliability electronic circuit cards and the mechanical system assembly of motion controllers.
  • Provide and support Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve product quality, capability and cost reductions.
  • New Equipment specification, justification and installation to schedule and budget.
  • DFM input, working closely with in-house and corporate design groups.
  • New Product Introduction creating, product costings, assembly processes and SOPs

The specific activities undertaken by the Manufacturing Engineer include:

  • Support the production of Electronic circuit card assemblies, with SMT, PTH, Selective solder, Aqueous cleaning and Conformal Coating processes, ensuring equipment and processes are operating to specification.
  • Support the Mechanical assembly of motion controllers with automated torque drivers and Laser marking, ensuring equipment and processes are operating to specification.
  • Work closely with production and other departments to meet customer deliveries.
  • Ensure all manufacturing assembly processes and procedures are designed to meet product quality, throughput, cost and EHS requirements.
  • Identifying and improving assembly processes with the use of Lean tools
  • Provide training on processes and equipment as required. 
  • Design and implement appropriate safe product handling solutions.
  • Understand, Use and improve in house BMDL and assembly procedures.
  • Assist other sites with product costings and assembly solutions as required.
  • ECO review, approval and implementation.

General Requirements:

  • The role requires a level 8 degree qualification.
  • Experience of electronics manufacturing.
  • A practical, constructive and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Experiences in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and or within a team to expedite completion of project tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to apply and implement concepts of Lean Manufacturing.

In addition:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal to interact with customers as well as individuals and teams at all levels on site.
  • This role requires a high degree of flexibility. Spikes in demand will require flexibility in work patterns in order to meet customer deadlines.
