The Work
As a Management Accountant, you will take ownership of core financial activities and day-to-day office operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls, and effective support to senior leadership. This is a varied, hands-on role with both strategic and operational impact.
- Prepare timely monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
- Analyse financial performance and support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Manage weekly financial and operational KPI reporting to Group/Head Office.
- Oversee working capital, including sales and purchase ledgers, credit control, cash flow, and debtor/creditor management.
- Maintain strong financial controls and drive process improvements to meet internal policies, audit requirements, and statutory obligations.
- Support senior leadership with marketing and wider strategic initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial and operational processes and overall service delivery.
- Provide clear financial insights and data to inform commercial and operational decision-making.
- Contribute to ad hoc reporting, project work, and enhancements to systems and processes.
The Person
The ideal candidate is a commercially aware, customer-focused finance professional who is comfortable balancing detailed financial work with broader office and operations management. You will be confident leading others, improving processes, and partnering with senior stakeholders.
Essential:
- Qualified or part-qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or substantial relevant experience in finance and office/operations management.
- 3–5 years of experience in management accounting combined with office or operations management responsibilities.
- Strong skills in Excel, CRM systems, and accounting software.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven leadership capabilities, with experience guiding and influencing teams.
- Proactive, customer-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Desirable:
- Background in the forecourt, engineering, or energy sectors.
- Knowledge of Xero accounting software, UK/Irish VAT requirements, and statutory reporting.
- Awareness of ISO standards and Health & Safety procedures.
