Maintenance Technician – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility specialising in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). We are looking for a talented Maintenance Technician to support the reliability and performance of production equipment, utilities, and systems.

This is a hands-on role in a highly regulated environment, ideal for someone with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a wide range of process equipment, utilities, and support systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation faults.
  • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns, minimizing downtime and ensuring production continuity.
  • Maintain and optimise the performance of specialized systems, including lyophilizers, purified water systems, process control and building management systems, chromatography equipment, chillers, HVAC, vacuum systems, VOC scrubbers, ATEX-rated equipment, and boilers.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP, SOPs, and safety regulations.
  • Accurately document work orders, daily checks, and maintenance records using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support regulatory inspections and audits by maintaining proper documentation and adhering to industry standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and failure investigations.
  • Track and manage engineering records, documentation, and performance metrics.

What You’ll Need

  • Technical qualification (Level 6 or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance roles within pharmaceutical, API, biotech, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs, instrumentation, and automation.
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA, HPRA, and safety regulations.
  • Experience using CMMS for maintenance planning and record-keeping.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in English.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, API, Biotech, or Medical Devices).
  • Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, or TPM methodologies.
  • Certification in Hazardous Area Equipment (EX) or ATEX compliance is an advantage.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with SCADA, PCS, BMS, and automated control systems.
  • Previous maintenance experience in API manufacturing.
  • Experience with SAP CMMS.

  • Day shift schedule Monday-Friday (call out rota for ooo breakdowns)
  • Competitive salary: €60,000 – €64,000 DOE
  • Performance bonus
  • Fixed-Term Contract (FTC): 12 or 18 months.
