Machine Operator – Food Production

We are currently recruiting an experienced Machine Operator on behalf of a well-established food manufacturing company based in West Cork.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous machine operating or production experience who is looking to join a busy, high-quality manufacturing environment.

The Role

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring production machinery while ensuring that quality, safety and production standards are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and adjust production machinery in line with daily production requirements.
  • Monitor machinery throughout production to ensure consistent and efficient output.
  • Carry out routine machine and production checks.
  • Identify faults, defects or inconsistencies and take appropriate action.
  • Complete relevant production and quality records accurately.
  • Carry out basic cleaning and maintenance of machinery.
  • Identify mechanical issues and escalate more complex faults to the maintenance team.
  • Assist with production line and product changeovers.
  • Follow all health, safety, hygiene and food safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Work closely with the wider production team to achieve daily targets.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing downtime.

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing, production or similar environment.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and production instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within food, dairy or FMCG manufacturing.
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience troubleshooting machinery.
  • Knowledge of HACCP or food safety standards.

Working Environment

This is a hands-on production position within a busy food manufacturing facility. The role will involve standing for extended periods and working as part of a production team.

Shift work may be required, including early morning and evening shifts.
