The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee fleet, transport, and distribution operations within a fast-paced supply chain environment. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a busy delivery network while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Transport Operations
- Manage day-to-day fleet operations and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, inspections, MOTs, and maintenance.
- Arrange emergency breakdown support and vehicle hire when required.
- Oversee vehicle loading and ensure efficient dispatch operations.
- Manage fleet replacement planning and procurement.
Routing & Delivery Planning
- Plan and optimise delivery routes and schedules.
- Monitor telematics, vehicle tracking, and driver performance systems.
- Assess new delivery locations and operational viability.
- Coordinate exceptional delivery plans during peak periods and disruptions.
Compliance & Health & Safety
- Manage tachograph downloads, infringements, and compliance records.
- Ensure adherence to transport legislation and operator licence requirements.
- Oversee vehicle insurance, taxation, and accident reporting.
- Maintain health & safety documentation, reports, and records.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.
Logistics Coordination
- Organise collections, deliveries, and third-party transport providers.
- Coordinate supplier and warehouse collections.
- Manage delivery slot bookings and customer logistics requirements.
- Resolve operational issues and minimise service disruptions.
People Management
- Manage delivery drivers and transport staff.
- Coordinate holidays, absence cover, and staffing requirements.
- Support training, communication, and performance management.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate transport, fleet, and operational records.
- Produce performance and compliance reports.
- Manage delivery schedules, paperwork, and operational systems.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth logistics operations.
About You
- Previous experience in a Logistics, Transport, or Fleet Management role.
- Strong knowledge of transport compliance, tachographs, and fleet operations.
- Experience managing drivers and coordinating transport teams.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong IT and reporting capabilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
