About Your New Role as a Health and Safety Officer
As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest levels of safety compliance on a range of construction and civil engineering projects. You’ll drive proactive safety initiatives, conduct site inspections, and work hands-on with teams to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Main duties include:
- Oversee all site health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular site audits, risk assessments, and safety training sessions.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, implementing corrective measures and reporting findings to management.
- Liaise with project management, subcontractors, and staff to drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Maintain and update safety documentation and records.
What Skills You Need as a Health and Safety Officer
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Health and Safety role within construction and pharma but experience in either will be considered.
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
- Excellent knowledge of current H&S regulations, best practice, and legislative requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture on site.
