About Your New Job as Head of Finance

As Head of Finance, you will:

  • Lead Accounting and Financial Operations for a national account.
  • Oversee month-end close activities, ensuring timely, accurate Trial Balance (TB) outputs and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and post routine journals, perform reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Manage client queries concerning reconciled balances and month-end positions.
  • Support process improvements, audit requirements, and interface controls between sub-ledger and GL.
  • Manage, train, and coach finance staff.

What Skills You Need as Head of Finance

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/CPA/CMA or equivalent) with strong finance experience.
  • Proven track record delivering TB outputs and management accounts in a BAU close environment.
  • Expertise in journals, reconciliations, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with sub-ledger to GL operating models.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, Power Query desired).
  • Strong communication and organised approach.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in the Irish Pensions industry or high-volume finance environments.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financial applications.
  • Familiarity with life & pensions transaction flows and system changes.
