About Your New Job

As the Grid Connections Manager, you will take ownership of grid connection strategy across a portfolio of renewable energy projects in Ireland, with some exposure to UK projects where required.

You will be responsible for guiding projects from early-stage grid optioneering through to executed grid connection agreements, working closely with internal development teams and external network operators.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning and delivering the grid connection strategy for a portfolio of solar PV and BESS projects

  • Acting as the primary interface with ESB Networks and EirGrid, managing applications, negotiations, milestones, and payments

  • Assessing and optimising distribution and transmission connection options, ensuring cost-effective, technically sound solutions

  • Managing external consultants and specialist advisors to support grid applications where required

  • Providing internal policy and strategic advice to protect and maximise the commercial value of the project pipeline

This is a highly influential role with clear responsibility, autonomy, and visibility across the wider development team.

What Skills You Need

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of grid connection processes, codes, and standards

  • Proven ability to manage and negotiate with multiple stakeholders, including network operators and consultants

  • Solid project management, commercial awareness, and decision-making skills

Experience Required

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 3+ years’ experience in a grid or connections-focused role within a DNO, TNO, power systems consultancy, IPP, or similar environment

  • Experience interpreting and negotiating grid connection offers, managing costs, and de-risking programme and commercial impacts

  • Working knowledge of ESB Networks and EirGrid connection processes in Ireland

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
