About Your New Job

As the EHS Officer, you will:

  • Maintain and continuously improve the company’s Health & Safety Management System.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and internal audits to ensure compliance with Irish legislation and company standards.
  • Deliver safety training, including manual handling, and promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support the company’s environmental and sustainability strategy by monitoring energy usage, waste, water consumption and carbon-reduction initiatives.
  • Lead sustainability reporting and support environmental improvement and certification programmes.
  • Coordinate external audits and liaise with regulatory bodies, insurers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.

The role will be based primarily in Galway, with travel to:

  • Birr: approximately once per month.
  • Mitchelstown: approximately once every two months.

What Skills You Need

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Health & Safety, Sustainability or a related discipline.
  • At least one year’s experience in an EHS, environmental or health and safety role.
  • Manual Handling Trainer certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and relevant standards.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to promote and embed a positive safety and sustainability culture.
  • A full driving licence and authorisation to work in Ireland.
