About Your New Job
As the EHS Advisor, you will:
- Oversee and continually improve health, safety, and environmental standards across various construction projects.
- Conduct thorough site inspections and audits, ensuring full compliance with all HSE regulations and internal policies.
- Prepare, review, and update risk assessments and method statements to proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Deliver safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and serve as the main point of contact for regulatory inspectors.
- Lead and document incident investigations, producing actionable reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Support project management with the development and enforcement of specific health and safety plans.
- Champion the company’s environmental initiatives, such as waste reduction, pollution control, and energy efficiency.
- Maintain all HSE documentation in line with statutory and company requirements, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Manage and mentor Graduate and Student EHS Advisors.
- Train staff in EHS management systems.
- Prepare sites for ISO audits and participate in high-level meetings with management and clients.
- Assist with tender documentation for sustainability and ESG compliance, and continually build on your own professional expertise.
What Skills You Need
- Level 8 degree or higher in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related subject (or equivalent qualifications).
- Previous experience in an EHS position, ideally within the construction industry; internships or entry roles are also considered.
- Strong working knowledge of HSE legislation and construction safety regulations.
- Experience with HSE management systems (such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety performance analysis.
- Effective team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent is beneficial.
