About Your New Job
As Assistant Production Manager, you will support the Production Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
- Support and lead the production team, acting as deputy to the Production Manager when required.
- Coordinate the daily production plan, ensuring effective use of people, equipment and resources.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, GMP, HACCP, hygiene and Health & Safety procedures.
- Monitor production to ensure products meet specifications, packing requirements, standard operating procedures and customer standards.
- Train, mentor and develop supervisors, line leaders and production operators.
- Review and update standard operating procedures to support safe, consistent working practices.
- Follow up on actions arising from audits and customer complaints, working closely with Quality to implement improvements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and use resources more effectively.
- Support stock counts and improvements to stock control procedures.
- Liaise with Planning, Quality and Maintenance to resolve issues and keep production running smoothly.
What Skills You Need
- Previous experience in production or manufacturing, ideally within the food industry.
- Proven experience leading and motivating production teams in a busy environment.
- A strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, food safety and hygiene standards.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
