Transport Manager
We’re looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead the operational performance of our HGV tanker fleet and driver team. You’ll oversee daily transport activities, ensure full compliance with safety and transport legislation, and maintain high training and performance standards across the depot.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations for our tanker fleet, drivers, and garage facilities
- Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Tachograph, Working Time and H&S regulations
- Oversee training standards, identify gaps, and support continuous improvement
- Handle day-to-day challenges including vehicle maintenance, site access and weather impacts
- Manage staffing levels and support positive team culture
- Use KPIs, telematics and data reporting to drive efficiency
- Mentor, develop and support the driver team
- Participate in recruitment and performance management
- Take part in the on-call rota and visit customer sites when needed
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager (LPG/fuels/hazardous goods preferred)
- CPC in Road Haulage (mandatory)
- ADR knowledge or certification
- Strong understanding of HSE, ADR, fleet compliance and driver hours regulations
- Experience with tanker fleets, route planning and TMS systems
- Excellent leadership, communication and IT skills (Microsoft Office, telematics)
- Customer-first mindset with a strong focus on safety
