About Your New Job

  • Driver Training & Assessment:
    • Conduct driving assessments for new applicants.
    • Deliver structured training, including classroom modules (Compliance, ADR awareness) and practical driving and handling training.
    • Lead annual driver refresher training, covering legislation, SHEQ updates, and incident prevention with physical driving assessments.
    • Administer remedial training plans for underperforming drivers.
  • Eco Driving & Fuel Efficiency:
    • Promote eco-driving techniques to reduce emissions and fuel use.
    • Analyze telematics and driver behavior reports.
    • Provide one-to-one coaching and performance improvement plans.
  • On-Site Safety & Observations:
    • Perform regular on-site driver observations evaluating PPE compliance, site safety, and loading behaviors.
    • Conduct site-based driving assessments in depots, yards, and customer premises.
    • Record and report safety non-conformances or improvement needs.

What Skills You Need

  • Essential:
    • 5+ years' HGV driving experience (C+E license) with a proven track record and incident-free record.
    • Experience with tank containers, tankers, packages, and curtain siders with load securing.
    • Valid ADR certification.
    • Driver CPC & strong knowledge of Irish/EU transport law.
    • Good understanding of EU driver hour rules and working time directive.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills.
    • Proven ability to coach or mentor drivers.
    • Safety and sustainability focused.
    • IT knowledge or willingness to learn in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and app-based systems.
  • Desirable:
    • “Train the Trainer” or instructional qualification.
    • Experience in telematics and eco-driving/defensive driving coaching.
    • Tank, IBC, or chemical handling experience.
    • Manual Handling Instructor certifications.
    • Experience in foodstuffs, both liquid and solid.
