Manufacturing Director

The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for strategically leading and operationally delivering the Galway sites’ manufacturing activities. The role will also support technical and manufacturing advancements and lead continuous improvements.  

 

This position reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing & Logistics and is a critical member of the Galway Operations Management Team.  

 

This role will suit someone who has a proven track record of delivering exceptional business results by putting people first to deliver a quality first culture, meeting and exceeding production targets and advanced production practices, meeting, and exceeding financial targets, driving continuous improvement of products and processes and ensuring high team engagement.

 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Set and lead the implementation of strategic processes and programmes for production that align with key business strategies and position the Galway site as best in class.
  • Responsible for meeting operational performance and strategic production objectives of the site (e.g., quality, volume, costs, lead time, safety, environmental compliance, capacity)
  • Collaborate effectively with other Site Leadership (Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain) to develop and successfully execute strategic plans for Production, driving alignment and collaboration across key functions, systems and processes.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the site to boost operational efficiencies.
  • Build a high trust and engagement culture within operations. Lead and demonstrate behaviours that drive engagement every day.
  • Set clear performance standards for the function, coach and motivate others, and ensure clear accountability for the team.
  • Develop robust talent development and succession planning in alignment with functional growth strategies across the manufacturing organisation.
  • Evaluate the performance of operations closely and encourage cross functional feedback on key organisational decisions.
  • Ensures customers’ needs are understood and met through close collaboration with the management team.
  • Ensures that safety standards are followed to provide a safe working environment in all operations areas.
  • Work on several projects with different clients, priorities, and requirements.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are adhered to and compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Utilise the appropriate mix of Quantitative and Qualitative data to interpret trends and forecasts, and proactively recommend solutions which improve operational effectiveness.
  • Lead and manage product and technical transfers across sites to meet organisational goals.
  • Uphold organization policies and standards, ensuring legislative governance are followed.
  • Performs other related tasks, as required.

 

Qualification/Experiences:

  • Leadership & Interpersonal:
    • Exemplary interpersonal communication skills with an excellent capacity to listen, understand and connect at all levels.

    • Proven track record of developing teams and individuals.

  • Technical Experience:
    • Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/engineering or any related field.
    • A minimum of five years’ experience at a senior leadership level in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Experience in Production is essential as well as technical or Quality experience or qualifications.
    • Strong knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management.
    • Strong working knowledge of data analytics and performance metrics using business management software.
    • Business Excellence Expertise.
    • Advantage to have a general knowledge of the medical device industry.
    • Experience in maintaining 14001, 45001, 50001, 13485.
