About Your New Job  

  • Act as a key Finance Business Partner to business stakeholders across the site, particularly the Sales and Operations leadership teams.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and performance evaluations, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Identify and investigate variances to budget and forecast, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement to drive business performance.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations functions in completing the retail and operational KPI framework, and exercise ownership regarding performance measurement versus target.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Operations leadership team to achieve commercial and financial targets.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, offering financial guidance, insights, and recommendations to drive profitability and growth.
  • Develop and challenge strategic/business plans, identifying areas of risk and opportunity. Review and approve business cases that drive high-return investment opportunities.
  • Work with Sales and Operations functions to develop and challenge budgets and forecasts.
  • Attend business reviews, identify budget/plan variances, and work with the business to recommend solutions and recovery plans where appropriate.
  • Assist the wider finance team in producing timely and insightful monthly management reports.
  • Evaluate and implement effective controls to ensure they are adequate to protect the assets, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Support the business teams through implementation, monitoring, and ongoing improvement of the finance system processes to meet business needs efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide finance input into the price changing/setting process and the Statement of Demand process.
  • Support the preparation of ad-hoc scenario analysis, financial analysis and modelling, and management reporting to assist in business decisions, including but not limited to, planning, budgeting, forecasting, commercial negotiations, project appraisal, and analysing strategic options.
  • Support process improvement and optimization, acting as the key finance player in commercial/process improvement projects from identification through to planning and implementation phases.
  • Work on an operating cost allocation project in the business to drive accountability and ownership.
  • Become a central point of contact between Finance and the wider business.
  • Participate in other ad-hoc projects as required

What Skills You Need

  • The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a minimum of 4 years of experience, including at least 2 years in a similar Finance Business Partner or Finance Manager role.

  • They will possess advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite and exhibit excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • The candidate will demonstrate strong strategic thinking and foresight, coupled with a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving. They will have a proven ability to think outside the box and identify alternative solutions, maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage various projects and multiple stakeholders simultaneously. Core business skills, including influencing, stakeholder management, and communication, are also critical for success in this role.

Candidate Requirements

  • Hold a degree in finance, economics or similar and a professional accountancy qualification
    (CIMA/ACA/ACCA).
  • Structured individual, focused on process and deadlines.
  • Independent thinker, able to manage, create and prioritise own workload.
  • Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong command of Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels and of various disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills, presentation skills and commitment to excellence.
  • Proven capability of conducting and interpreting advanced quantitative/qualitative analysis, problem-solving, and data manipulation.
  • Strong problem-solving/decision-making, continuous improvement, change management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of staff and focus on developing solutions that meet and/or exceed projected results while building and maintaining strong relationships and gaining trust.
