Site Engineer - Athlone

About Your New Employer

Joining their team in Athlone means becoming part of a dynamic environment dedicated to safety, sustainability, and ongoing professional development, ensuring you thrive both personally and professionally.

About Your New Job

As the Site Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing site activities within a large scale educational refurb project in the Athlone area. You will ensure that all works are executed in line with technical specifications, quality guidelines, and health & safety standards.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Assist in setting out, levelling, and surveying complex, occupied, or historical sites, using the latest construction technology and measurement equipment to ensure precision in both modern and renovation environments.
  • Manage and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction plans for refurbishment and retrofit works, providing technical advice and support to colleagues, subcontractors, and specialists involved in the restoration process.
  • Monitor and record site progress for renovation works, maintaining accurate site records and reports, including any adjustments required for existing structures.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, consultants, heritage officers, and suppliers to ensure seamless delivery of renovation projects, balancing modern requirements with preservation of original features.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify that work not only meets safety standards and project quality objectives, but also adheres to any conservation or period-specific guidelines applicable to renovation projects.
  • Identify and resolve unforeseen technical difficulties or structural challenges that may arise during the renovation, offering innovative solutions while maintaining the integrity of the original building.
  • Support the Project Manager with the preparation and management of schedules, resources, and project documentation—carefully planning around the unique timelines and constraints involved in renovation and fit-out works.

This tailored approach will ensure that both new construction and renovation projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

What Skills You Need

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2+ years in site engineering within the construction or fit-out sectors.
  • Strong technical acumen, organisational skills, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary between €50,000 – €70,000, depending on experience.
