Senior Manager - Operations – Global Medical Device Manufacturer

About the Role:

As the Senior Manager, you will take full responsibility for people, quality, customer service, and cost performance within a high-profile production unit. You'll play a key role in aligning strategic goals, fostering a high-performance culture, and driving continuous improvement in line with company values and behavioural standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the strategic plan for the Production Unit in collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Lead and support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, Quality, and Production Planning to optimize departmental performance and foster strong employee engagement and communication.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet production demands while cultivating cross-functional relationships.
  • Coach and develop direct reports and wider teams, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and lifelong learning.
  • Oversee and manage department budgets and operational costs to meet business objectives.
  • Lead efforts to achieve customer service targets and optimal inventory levels while maintaining high quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation across all levels of the department.
  • Cultivate a risk-aware culture, proactively addressing potential issues that could impact production or product quality.
  • Ensure regulatory, GMP, and environmental compliance, working closely with EHS to manage environmental impacts.
  • Drive operational excellence and functional excellence initiatives to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and people development skills with a focus on coaching, relationship-building, and communication.
  • Expertise in Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, and systems thinking.
  • Skilled in change management, particularly in cultural transformation.
  • High level of organizational awareness and business acumen.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing line layout and flow design.
  • Strong project management and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management, capacity planning, and financial management.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8-10+ years of experience in an operations/manufacturing environment, ideally in the medical device or highly regulated industry e.g. automotive, pharmaceutical etc.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, with a proven ability to lead teams and deliver results in complex environments.
