About your new job as a Production Shift Lead: The Production Lead ensures product quality in their area meets established standards, monitors production, and works with technicians, operators, engineers, and value stream leads to maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and ensure clear communication. They also support the production team, maintain audit readiness, collaborate with other Group Leaders to resolve ongoing issues, and report to the Business Unit Manager.

 

Your duties as a Production Shift Lead

  • Lead the group decision-making process for control and development, and ensure timely progress on quality actions for non-conformances.
  • Support and lead production teams to meet manufacturing goals, and plan and coordinate training, development, and performance reviews for technicians and operators.
  • Ensure safety and security of personnel, machines, equipment, and facilities in the production area, including conducting a Line Safety Walkabout each shift.
  • Use and understand statistical process control (SPC) to monitor product quality, and leverage basic computer tools/programs for analysis and reporting.
  • Make decisions related to quality, processing, automation, and tooling on the production floor, and coordinate these with relevant engineers.
  • Lead a high-performing team to achieve business goals, manage talent development, including performance management and succession planning, and coach employees using development and retention plans.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, ISO standards, environmental, health, and safety requirements, and perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What skill/experience you need

  • Preferably holds a qualification in plastic or mechanical engineering, or has relevant industrial experience.
  • Requires over 5 years of people management experience, with proven ability to develop talent and identify potential.
  • Experience in the injection molding industry is desirable, with a working knowledge of robots, automation systems, and molding ancillary equipment.
  • Must be self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of collaborating with employees at all levels while maintaining strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must uphold high Health and Safety standards, ensuring compliance with site systems, and work closely with Quality to maintain product standards and adherence to quality systems.
  • Requires strong numerical skills, budget management abilities, and computer literacy.
