About Your New Job
As a Pipelayer, you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground pipe systems for various drainage and utility projects. Based in Galway, you will be responsible for:
- Installing and maintaining pipelines for drainage systems, water mains, sewer lines, and other utility networks.
- Ensuring the correct laying of pipes, fittings, and related materials according to specifications.
- Conducting deep drainage work, including trench digging, laying pipes, and backfilling.
- Preparing and reading plans and diagrams for pipeline installation.
- Ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Assisting in the operation of heavy machinery, including excavators and trenchers, when required.
- Carrying out pipe alignment, and performing pipe jointing and welding.
- Working in compliance with Irish health and safety regulations, and maintaining up-to-date safety certifications.
- Conducting regular checks and inspections of installed pipework for leaks or damage.
- Working closely with other team members and site managers to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Keeping the worksite clean and following correct waste disposal methods.
What Skills You Need
The ideal candidate should have:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Pipelayer, with deep drainage experience.
- Up-to-date and valid safety certifications including Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and any relevant construction-specific certificates required in Ireland (e.g., CSCS, CPCS).
- Experience with various types of pipes, including PVC, steel, and ductile iron, and knowledge of pipe jointing and trenching techniques.
- Proficiency in the operation of relevant construction machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to implement them on-site.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in a demanding environment, including underground trench work and varying weather conditions.
- Full, valid Irish driving licence.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks to high standards.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
