Job title:  Payroll Administrator

Reporting into: Head of HR

Job location: East Galway

Working hours: 9am to 5pm (Monday to Thursday) and 9.00am to 4.30pm on a Friday (or 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday or 8.30am to 4pm on a Friday)

Contract type: 12 month contract (this role is replacing someone who has moved internally to another role within the business)

About the employer

This new job opportunity is with a health service provider in East Galway. This role is based on site with the potential to have one day per week working from home in the longer term (after 6 months).

The Payroll Administrator role responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of HR, your duties will include preparing and assisting with a monthly payroll input by liaising with managers and collating all appropriate information for the outsourced payroll provider.

Complete confidentiality is required at all times. The role holder requires strong organisational, time management skills and the ability to communicate well with colleagues and internal employees.

  • Provide accurate collation of monthly payroll changes and updates to the payroll outsource provider for circa 900-1000 employees.
  • Ensure payroll is processed with accuracy and within deadlines.
  • Complete monthly processing and reconciliation and prepare reports for final approval and sign off prior to submitting payroll to the bank.
  • Work closely with HR dept and Time & Attendance system to ensure seamless flow of relevant and retained data across functions to aid the payroll process.
  • Act as first point of contact for employee queries regarding payroll.
  • Checking sick leave and adjusting pay as necessary in line with company sick leave policy.

Qualifications & Experience needed for this role:

  • Relevant Irish Payroll Association (IPASS) qualification would be beneficial but this is not absolutely essential
  • 1+ years' payroll administration experience is essential. The hiring manager for this role can consider either experienced applicants or applicants with some Payroll experience who would like to be further developed into a busy Payroll position.
