About Your New Job
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations at the sawmill plant. Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing faults, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on plant machinery.
- Acting as the first responder for mechanical breakdowns.
- Carrying out preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Maintaining and repairing a variety of mechanical systems, including motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mobile plant equipment.
- Supporting plant upgrade projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Manufacturing or modifying spare parts using milling, turning, and welding techniques.
What Skills You Need
- Time-served Mechanical Fitter qualification in Mechanical Automation, Maintenance, Manufacturing, or Toolmaking.
- At least five years of experience in a similar role, ideally in heavy industry, construction, or mining.
- Hands-on experience with motors, gearboxes, chain drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mobile plant equipment.
- Additional safety-related training (e.g., Safe Pass, MEWP certification) is beneficial.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a fast-paced environment.
