HEO Enforcement & Legal Services (West Cork)

The successful candidate will perform an important role in support of Enforcement, including prosecutions and administrative/civil proceedings related to sea-fisheries law and food safety law. This holder of this role will support the objective of increased compliance with regard to National and EU level sea- fisheries law and food safety law.

About your new employer

Sigmar is recruiting for an independent statutory body responsible for the regulation of the sea-fisheries and the seafood production sectors. Our client promotes compliance with the EU Common Fisheries Policy, sea-fisheries law and food safety law relating to fish and fish products.

Key Responsibilities

To secure efficient and effective enforcement of sea-fisheries law and food safety law.
To promote compliance with and deter contraventions of sea-fisheries law and food safety law
To detect contraventions of sea-fisheries law and food safety law
To provide information to the sea-fisheries and seafood sectors on sea-fisheries law and food safety law and relevant matters within the remit of the Authority, through the Consultative Committee established under section 48 of the above Act or by any other means it considers appropriate
To advise the Minister in relation to policy on effective implementation of sea-fisheries law and food safety law.
To provide assistance and information to the Minister in relation to the remit of the Authority.
To collect and report data in relation to sea-fisheries and food safety as required by the Minister and under Community law
To represent or assist in the representation of the State at national, Community and international for a as requested by the Minister; and

Essential Requirements:

Possess a relevant third level qualification in Law or legal education (minimum NFQ level 7).
A minimum of 3 years proven and relevant legal practice/legal affairs experience including experience of case management and litigation.
Experience in dealing with legal representatives and counsel, and the Courts Service.
